OK. Chris has the wanderlust life that many of us can only dream of and with nearly 7 years of Travel under his seat-belt, it is no wonder that his content won one of the UK Blog Awards 2016 gongs back in April.
We managed to catch up with Chris from Backpacker Banter whilst he is currently travelling across the pond in Australia and we have found out that travelling does not restrict entrepenurial'ship, no sir. During this interview, you can find out where Chris has travelled since his big win, his opinion on why and not to join the world of online content, as well as his task to dive deeper into the world of SEO!
Tell our readers a bit about you and your Blog content..
I’m Chris - surfer, photographer, traveller and ocean lover originally from Devon in the UK. I’ve been on the road since 2009 now - sharing reviews, advice and stories from my travels with them aim to inspire others to see more of the world and give them the info they need to make it a reality.
Since your big win, where are you now?
I’m currently based in Byron Bay, Australia - but since my win in April I’ve been to Morocco, Sri Lanka and even The Maldives!
Do you think winning a UK Blog Award has helped progress your Blog career?
Indeed! It’s certainly boosted my profile and it’s a great addition to my media kit and pitch email!
So far, what has been the highlight of your Blog career?
Apart from winning the UK Blog Awards? It’s probably launching my online travel agencies EpicGapYear.com and RTWBackpackers.com to help my readers book their own adventures!
If you were able to go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself about Blogging?
Maybe take it a bit more seriously from the start and learn more about SEO!
Would this be the same advice to a Blogger starting out?
Well I’d never recommend getting in it solely for the money - but if you love what you’re doing focusing on the business side of things and SEO is never a bad thing to do
To those who are nominated or entering into the UK Blog Awards, what advice would you give?
Good luck! Haha! Seriously though self promote, cross promote - just get the word out there in the voting stage. If you’ve built a trusted community of followers they’ll be stoked to help you out!
Finally, this year’s UK Blog Awards 2017 theme is #BlogHero. How would you define a hero in the blogosphere?
I’d say it’s someone that isn’t afraid to help out others, a mentor like figure. I’ve had some awesome bloggers help me out over the years, even from when I was a total newbie - they’re the kind of bloggers who deserve the Hero title!
